Gordy got an $800 loan from his family to start his buistness, and the town he was in was known as 'Motor Town' so that's where he got the idea to name his comoant 'Motown'. He thought that it would be good to let people come in from the streets, with a shot at stardom. He didn't care about their religion, or race. He had meetings every Friday, anda lot more people coming in, so the competition was fierce, but so was the love. He created multi-platinum artists.
