An essential theme in human evolution is migration and development
into regions of the globe not previously occupied. Fully modern humans migrated
to Australia about 40,000 yBP and to North America and South America by 15,000
yBP. By the start of the Holocene, humans lived on all inhabitable continents
(excluding Antarctica).
