The Volume (V) of a rectangle is length (l) × width (w) × height (h).
If height (h) = 3 ft, and the area (A) of the floor = l×w, then we can set up the equation:
[tex]A = l \times w \\ V = l \times w \times h = A \times h \\ 2097 \: {ft}^{3} = A \times 3 \: ft \\ A = 2097 \: {ft}^{3} \div 3ft = 699 \: {ft}^{2} [/tex]
