The distributive property is what makes 5(x-2) to 5x-10

The distributive property states that a(b+c)= ab+ac

So, 5(x-2)= 5x-10

the property that justifies this equivalence is the distributive property. you disribute by multiplying 5 and x to get 5x and 5 times negative 2 to get negative 10
