OK so you're given a number and a percent. What you do is first change the percent into a fraction. 40/100 in other words 2/5. What I do is I divide by the numerator (in this case 2) and the multiply by the denominator (5). So 16/2 = 8. And 8 x 5 = 40. Hope this helps

40%=40/100=0.4
we have to solve the following equation.
0.4x=16
x=16/0.4=40

Answer: 16 is 40% of 40
