To find f(1), look along the x-axis and look at where x is 1 or (1,0). Then, when you look on the graph, imagine a vertical line has been drawn through the x value of 1 (or the graph x=1). When you do, notice that this line passes through one point, (1,-4). The y-value of this coordinate would be your answer since the x value is 1 when f(1), the answer is -4.
