Insolation refers to the the amount of sun's radiation that is reaching a particular place at a particular point in time. It is measured by the amount of solar energy received per square centimeter in a period of 60 seconds. Thus, the degree of insolation measures the quantity of solar radiation that a place is exposed to at a particular point in time.
