Which word-formation process is the source of the english word 'modem'?

The word “modem” originated from a blend of two words – modulator and demodulator. Since the word is creatively taken from two words and based on sound structures, the resulting word modem is called blend. The word-formation process used here is blending. Blending is said to be the most beloved of the processes.
