What makes a homo sapiens distinct from other hominids is the highly developed brain which it possesses. The highly developed brain makes the homo sapiens capable of abstract reasoning, introspection, language, emotion and problem solving. This highly developed brain couple with the fact that the homo sapiens is capable of body erect carriage  put the homo sapiens ahead of the other hominids.
