A sonic boom is caused by an object traveling faster than the speed of sound, creating pressure waves that reach our ears as a loud boom. Static discharge, on the other hand, is the rapid transfer of electrical charges between objects. While it can create a spark and a snapping sound, it doesn't produce a sonic boom.
