The buildings of Coketown are made of red brick. However, the buildings' color is unnatural red and black like the painted face of a savage. The tall chimneys from these buildings have serpents of smoke trails that for ever and ever never got uncoiled. The vast pile of buildings in Coketown are full of windows and rattling and trembling takes place all day long.
