Guglielmo Marconi is remembered in the Atlantic Provinces for his reception of the first wireless signal across the Atlantic Ocean at Signal Hill. He was able to disprove the detractors who claimed that the transmission would limit to 200 miles or less because of the curvature of the Earth by sending the first radio transmission across the Atlantic Ocean.
