Two sides of a triangle are equal in length and double the length of the shortest side. The perimeter of the triangle is 35 inches.

Let x be the shortest side then the other two sides = 2x

x + 2x + 2x = 35
5x = 35
x = 35/5
x = 7 in  
← shortest side

7 * 2 = 14 in   
← other sides
