Our equation currently is:
4x - 1 = 2x + 5.
To solve for x, get x on one side.
Subtract 2x from both sides.
2x - 1 = 5 is now our new equation.
2x is not alone.
Add 1 to both sides to get 2x alone.
2x = 6 is now our new equation.
Now, we must simplify the equation to solve for x.
Divide both sides by 2.
x = 3 is your solution.
I hope this helps!
