When converting between two measurement units, how can you tell which operation to use

most of the time its juss common sense where you can point the right measurement with just sense i guess

You just have to remember
Meters is times or divide by 100
Centimeters is divide or times by 10 (I think)
Millimeters is divide or times by 10
And so on
Because I don't think there is another way to tell
