percent means parts out of 100
7%=7/100=0.07

so what increasing by 7% of itself is is

original+original times 7%
we can actually do this and apply distributive property
original times 1+original times 0.07=original times (1+0.07) or original times 1.07

so the single multiplier is 1.07
