1) To explain why only her right arm was fractured, despite her landing on both arms with the same force

Justifying that why only right arm got fractured

  • The posture or angle of right arm could be in a way which caused fractured
  • There could be a pre-existing injury in right arm which made it weak and hence upon falling right arm got fractured.

2) The different ways a doctor may treat her fractured bone depends on type and severity of fractured bone.

The different ways are following

  • Supporting the bone with splint, if there is swelling or cut
  • Immobilising the bone with plaster or fiber cast
  • Open Reduction and Internal Fixation Surgery (ORIF) might required and hence doctor may treat her with the help of screws, pins, rods or plates

3) If Naomi was a 45-year-old female approaching menopause,

  • Then she would have more risk of having a more severe fracture because during menopause bone density decreases which makes the bone fragile. Fragile bones are not that much strong and they may get break due to less force also. During menopause estrogen level drops and that affect the amount of calcium in bones, causing Osteoporosis.

4) I myself had fracture in ankle bone, and it was painful. Once the cast was applied, pain was less and it took 6 weeks to heal the fracture with no movement of leg. If anyone with fracture would try to move the fractured part again and again, the healing time will increase and bone may also not get attached properly so it will lead to long term issues.

After cast removal if the patient takes proper physiotherapy, then fracture is just a temporary injury else it may be painful for lifetime.
