It was the 19th Ecumenical council of the Roman Catholic church. Important members of the Catholic Church met in Trento 3 times between December 13, 1545, and December 14, 1563. as a reaction to the Protestant Reformation... The Council of Trent was part of the Counter-Reformation. Date of the council of Trent was 1545-1563. Three purposes of the Council of Trent are to bring back Protestants to the church, to state Catholic teaching clearly, and to address the issues of abuse in the church.
