if DE ||BC then

AD/DB = AE/EC (By similarity of triangle)

[tex] \frac{x}{6 - x} = \frac{10}{14} [/tex]

[tex]14x = 60 - 10x[/tex]

[tex]24x = 60[/tex]

[tex]x = 2.5[/tex]
