It was the last major battle of Ulysses S. Grant's Overland Campaign. On the morning of June 3, 1864, three Union corps lunged forward in a massive frontal attack against Confederate lines at Cold Harbor, Virginia. By noon that day, as many as 7,000 Union troops were killed, wounded, or missing. hope this helps
