Given:

In a fruit shop 20 percentage of mangoes are rotten.

The number rotten mangoes is 35.

To find:

The total number of mangoes.

Solution:

Let x be the number of total mangoes.

It is given that 20% of mangoes are rotten. So, the number of rotten mangoes is 20% of x.

[tex]\dfrac{20}{100}\times x=\dfrac{1}{5}x[/tex]

The number rotten mangoes is 35. So,

[tex]\dfrac{1}{5}x=35[/tex]

[tex]x=5\times 35[/tex]

[tex]x=175[/tex]

Therefore, the number of total mangoes is 175.
