I mean I think, Ocean currents act much like a conveyor belt, transporting warm water and precipitation from the equator toward the poles and cold water from the poles back to the tropics.

The ocean helps keep to moderate the climate of earth. Currents move cold water from the poles toward the equator. Currents move warm water from the tropics toward the poles.  Hope this helps.
