why was the rosetta stone so important to the scholars

The Rosetta Stone was important because it had inscribed on it the same thing written in three languages (these being Egyptian Hieroglyphs, ancient Greek, and Demotic). This was the key artifact to deciphering these three languages to better understand other cultural artifacts. Hope I helped.
