Answer: For lines to be parallel, the slope has to be the same.

For lines to be perpendicular, the slope has to be the negative reciprocal.  4 x + 2 y = 7

2 y = − 4 x + 7

y = − 2 x + 7 /2

Compared to : y = 2 x − 3
