What was the founding father's intention surrounding how our branches of government might interact?

By creating three branches of government, the founding fathers wanted to make sure that no part of the government had too much authority. The three branches interact in a system of checks and balances, meaning they have the power to, in a way, supervise and restrict what is done by the others. This is what guarantees people's safety from excessive authority by any branch's member.
