A major change that occurred in European literature during the Renaissance was the use of vernacular language. Ii is in fact reported that vernacular poetry and stories were the dominant literary forms in Europe in the fourteenth century. This was as a result of the influence of the intellectual and cultural tendencies that accompanied the Renaissance period.
