This act reduced and controlled farm production, causing prices to rise. The AAA paid farmers to produce less. In 1933, for instance 6 millions piglets were destroyed - but the meat was canned and given to unemployed.
Between 1932 and 1939, the income of farmers more than doubled. Many people criticised the Act, saying that this was unjustified government interference in the free market.
