Their emigration to California has enlarged the numbers of Catholic faithful in that state.  A majority of adult residents of California are Catholics, 28% of the total, according to the Pew Center. 63% of the total adult population are Christians. 20% are Evangelical Protestants and 10% are Mainline Protestants.
