The paintings of Salvador Dali are examples of the Surrealist school of art. The surrealist school of art of surrealism began in the 1920's and was made up of influential artists such as Salvador Dali, Paul Klee, Max Ernst, Rene Magritte and Frida Kahlo. Surrealism can be described as fantastical, often weird, unusual, twisted versions of reality, dreamscapes and semi real imagery. Surrealism was influenced a lot by the idea of the unconscious mind and dreams.
