Simplify 4/9x to 4x/9

4x/9 - 1 = 5/9x + 2

Simplify 5/9x to 5x/9

4x/9 - 1 = 5x/9 + 2

Multiply both sides by 9

4x - 9 = 5x + 18

Subtract 4x from both sides

-9 = 5x + 18 - 4x

Simplify 5x + 18 - 4x to x + 18

-9 = x + 18

Subtract 18 from both sides

-9 - 18 = x

Simplify -9 - 18 to -27

-27 = x

Switch sides

x = -27
