It is important that you are knowledgeable as a health professional about other health professions because you need to be able to refer your patients to the correct clinic if you are unable to help them. This knowledge is valuable so that you ensure your patient is getting the necessary care they need and that they are not frustrated going to each clinic to find out who it is that can take care of them. Most hospitals and clinics practice the "no wrong door policy" meaning it is your job to know where to refer someone.
