The Renaissance was a period of innovations and intellectual transformations, which were shaped in the context of Humanism, a movement initiated by secular (non-religious) scholars aimed at stressing the strengths and possibilities of human thought and creations. It was in this context that Copernicus, a truly Renaissance man, expressed his revolutionary theory.
