n = - 10

6n + 40 = 2n ( subtract 2n from both sides of the equation )

4n + 40 = 0 ( subtract 40 from both sides )

4n = - 40 ( divide both sides by 4 )

n = [tex]\frac{-40}{4}[/tex] = - 10
