Hi!

We need to isolate x on one sides, and whatever we do to the equation we have to do on both sides.

Subtract 5 from both sides.

4x + 5 - 5 = 12 - 5 - 7x

4x = 7 - 7x

Add 7x to both sides.

4x + 7x = 7 - 7x + 7x

11x = 7

Divide by 11 on both sides

11x/11 = 7/11

x = 7/11

The answer is x = 7/11

Hope this helps! :)
