Lunar phases are as a result of the relative position of the moon, as a satellite astronomical body to the earth, to the sun and the earth. It position affects the position of the moon that reflects the sun’s rays to the earth and how this reflection it is viewed from the earth. A full moon is when the entire moon surface reflects the sun rays back to earth and occurs when the Moon is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun.
