[tex]a^2 + 36 = 117[/tex]
[tex]a^2 = 117 - 36[/tex]
[tex]a^2 = 81[/tex]
[tex]\sqrt{a^2} = \sqrt{81}[/tex]
[tex]a = 9[/tex]
